The dewatering of sludge with dewatering bags is very simple and is very suitable for the processing of small amounts of sludge, where the investment of a machine is not obvious.
The sludge is pumped into the bags or even simpler, flows into them. The special stucture of the bags (non-woven) lets the water through and prevents the sludge from passing. When the dewatering bags are ful and already partly leaked, the bags are sealed. By storing the bags in a dry area, the remaining water can further leak out and evaporate. Depending on the storage facilities, a very dry residue can be achieved.
The use of dewatering bags is the obvious choice for small quantities and in case of "toxic sludge" where a very high cost of dumping is involved. The obtention of a very dry residue results in a large reduction of the dumping-cost.
